Goals & Strategies
Goal I: Inclusion and Belonging
Diverse Member Engagement. Increase diverse member engagement through targeted accessible programming and initiatives:
- Strategy 1: Evaluate membership density to determine geographic centers within NESACS (Q4,25); identify people from under-represented geographic areas to help organize and/or participate in NESACS programming activities (Q2, 26).
- Champion and co-champions: Meg, Brian D
- Strategy 2: Communication. Generate a calendar with NESACS technical meetings, workshops, symposia and other events and update this calendar on a routine basis (e.g. through a live editable document). This group will publish the calendar on the NESACS website and other media, and for publication in the NUCLEUS on an ongoing basis. Registration forms for technical events will ask attendees to cite how they learned about the event.

Goal II: Enhance Community Engagement
Outreach. Engage a diverse public in appreciating the contribution of science in everyday life:
- Strategy 1: Increase cross-communication and cross-collaboration with external committees/groups (e.g. WIC+, HWIC, NOBCChE, etc…) to support and advertise NESACS-led initiatives (Q42025). Hold at least 2 events in 2025 that engage new potential members (e.g. Women’s Careers in Chemistry panel/poster session, Chemistry of Batteries, Material Science).

- Strategy 2: Outreach to Students. Establish a relationship between NESACS and NEACT and work together to organize at least 2 activities per year for area high school students.

Goal III: Enhance Education and Resourcing Options
Enhance education and resourcing options in the chemical sciences by developing innovative and inclusive programming to inspire and educate students and professionals:
- Strategy 1: Undergraduate research support. Increase the Norris-Richards Undergraduate Summer Research Scholarships by +2 scholarships.
