The Trinity College Chemistry Department, which is committed to ensuring the success of the diverse and talented students in our classrooms and laboratories, invites applications for an Electron Microscopy Manager and Instrumentation Specialist. The successful candidate will maintain instrumentation and auxiliary equipment for an interdisciplinary electron microscopy (EM) facility and in the Chemistry Department. The instrumentation includes a transmission electron microscope (TEM) and a scanning electronic microscope (SEM), several mass spectrometers and two nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometers. Work time is split 50/50 between the EM facility and the instruments in the Chemistry Department. The successful candidate is responsible for periodic servicing and necessary repairs to the microscopes and other instrument. The holder of this position is expected to establish operating protocols and instruct faculty and students in the use of electron microscopes and associated instruments including providing technical support to courses that employ electron microscopy. Other responsibilities include oversight of the electron microscopy laboratories, including its budget.
