NESACS at UNSCO Chemistry Olympiad

The US National Chemistry Olympiad program is proud to announce the team that will represent the U.S. in the 54th International Virtual Chemistry Olympiad hosted by China July 11-18, 2022.

The four members of the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad (USNCO) team are:

  • Jack Liu, Carmel High School, IN, Indiana Local Section
  • Nathan Yihe Ouyang, University High School, CA, Orange County Local Section
  • Gideon Tzafriri, Lexington High School, MA, Northeastern Local Section
  • Phoenix Wu, Seven Lakes High School, TX, Greater Houston Local Section

2022 Team USA and alternates: L to R Yufei Chen, Gideon Tzafriri, Nathan Yihe Ouyang, Phoenix Wu, Jack Liu, Mingwen Duan

The 2 alternates are:
1st – Yufei Chen, University High School, CA, Orange County Local Section
2nd – Mingwen Duan, East Lyme High School, CT, Connecticut Valley Local Section.

Team USA will be supported during the IChO by the following mentors:
Dr. Joseph Houck, Penn State University, PA, Head mentor
Ms. Esther Hines, Billerica Memorial High School, MA, High School mentor
Dr. Laura Serbulea, University of Virginia, VA, College mentor
