NESACS Receives ChemLuminary Award

At the 24th ChemLuminary Award ceremony on August 23, 2022, at the ACS National Meeting in Chicago, NESACS received the Outstanding Women Chemists Local Section Award from the Women Chemists Committee (WCC).  The award recognizes the outstanding efforts by a local section women chemists committee in promoting women in the chemical sciences.  Carol Mulrooney, NESACS Chair, accepted the award.

In addition to NESACS, the finalists for this award were the Georgia and the Southern Arizona local sections.

NESACS was also a finalist in four other award categories, but, alas, did not win:

  • Outstanding Local Section Younger Chemists Committee Award from the Younger Chemists Committee (YCC), recognizing outstanding efforts by local section younger chemists committees in serving chemists under the age of 35: Greater Houston (winner), NESACS.
  • Outstanding or Creative Local Section Younger Chemists Committee Event Award from YCC (same recognition): Eastern U.S. YCC Partnership (winner), Indiana, NESACS.
  • Outstanding National Chemistry Week (NCW) Event for a Specific Audience Award from the Committee on Community Affairs (CCA), recognizing local sections that have demonstrated exemplary performance in the development and implementation of outstanding activities in support of NCW and Chemists Celebrate Earth Week (CCEW): NESACS, South Florida (winner).
  • Outstanding Performance by a Local Section – Very Large Size Category Award from the Committee on Local Section Activities (LSAC), recognizing local sections for outstanding overall performance and for excellence in individual programs and activities: Chicago, NESACS, Philadelphia (winner).
